How We Work

Working with an interior designer is a creative, collaborative process; and trust between client and designer is essential. Always interested in meeting new people, the studio adopts a structured approach to taking on new clients.

The following stages assume a full service experience where we handle the project from start to finish.

The Introduction

A brief 30 minute meeting intended as an opportunity for the studio to meet a prospective client, establish a rapport and the project scope. No fee; no commitment.

If mutual interest in working together is established, the studio will prepare a proposal and contract.

Phase 1: Introduction & Design Direction

Once the contract is signed, we gather additional information to guide the design moving through the following steps:

• Client Priorities & Preferences – a series of structured conversations and imagery presentations to uncover spatial and functional needs, look & feel preferences, and lifestyle priorities.

• Preparation & Budget – the studio visits the property, arranges a site survey, and establishes a project budget.

• Concept Design – the studio develops and delivers the preliminary design for the project, including sample materials, furnishings and finishes and detailed cost information.

Phase 2: Design Development & Documentation

Based on client feedback the studio will refine and finalize the plans, selections, and project direction

• Comprehensive interior design and architectural services delivered to project completion in accordance with the concept design and in line with the following:

• Developed Design – the studio develops the concept design further and updates the cost information.

• Technical Design – the studio develops the technical design for tender and, if required, submits applications for building regulations approval and prepares specifications for the schedule of works. All information for construction is provided to the contractor and any design work by specialist subcontractors is reviewed.

Phase 3: Project Management & Installation

• Procure client approved furniture, decorative lighting, and decorative finishes in line with established budget.

  • Provide client approved specification information to bidders for floors, walls, windows, ceilings, and lighting fixture materials or products.

  • Conduct weekly video meetings with contracted construction leader to ensure work is completed according to client approved design.

  • Coordinate delivery and installation of procured furniture, decorative lighting, and finishes, with contracted construction team. Ensure vendors comply with building COI and scheduling requirements.

• Construction & Handover – the studio makes final inspections, resolves any defects and advises on maintenance of furnishings, fittings and materials.

The Bold Print

• Service agreements, signed in advance, set out all relevant timelines and deliverables.

• An estimated range of design fees is provided according to the scope established at the beginning of the project.

• Design fees are billed on a monthly basis and the weekly update includes time spent, so there are no surprises!

• The weekly update also outlines next steps, decisions needing client in-put, and progress toward deliverables.

• The studio regularly secures trade prices and discounts on furniture, decorative lighting, soft furnishings and artwork as well as on some floor and wall finishes. All items procured by the studio are subject to a 30% purchasing fee.
